For liquid fuel I use a PET pop bottle of suitable dimensions (left). In the middle, a standard container that you buy alcohol in. Usually, it is too big and unnecessarily heavy. For canister gas you simply have no choice; the container is part of the package.
Comments and current insights: I keep being astonished at how many people underrate the ordinary soda bottles that you find in every store, containing all sorts of gunk. These bottles are very light (cheaper to transport) and very sturdy. You can throw a Coke bottle across the parking lot and it will not break. So, really, there ought not to be any market for manufacturing those special and comparatively heavy fuel bottles (or drinking bottles).
